Remodeling Process: Design, Scope Development and Build

We will help and guide you through the remodeling design and scope development process and let you know what decisions need to be made and when. Our process is comprehensive and inclusive. As professional home contractors, we guide you through a streamlined process where you are actively involved in every step and decision of your home improvement project.

 

Steps of the Paradis Remodel Process

Step 1: Free Consultation with your Paradis Remodel Coach

  • You call or contact us to discuss your project
  • Set up an appointment at your home with all interested parties
  • We visit with you and all interested parties to learn about your project goals, ideas, wants and needs.
  • Look at the areas of your home for your project and begin brainstorming options and ideas with you.
  • Tour the other areas of your home to understand your taste, style and home’s architecture to ensure consistency with your remodel project.
  • Learn more about Paradis, who we are, what we do and how we do it to determine if we are a fit for you.
  • Discuss the project options and general scope, time frame, the target budget goal and other qualifying criteria.
  • If we both agree that we are a fit for each other on the project, time frame and budget then we will move to the next step.
  • To move forward we will produce a design/scope development/build order for your approval and here the design and scope development services fee is due.

Step 2: Meeting to begin the conceptual design

  • Meeting with remodel coach and designer at your home
  • Measure the areas to be remodeled, assess the existing utilities and adjacent areas.
  • Draw existing renderings of the areas to be remodeled, the adjacent areas and any other areas as outlined on the design order.
  • Check for code items, zoning, capacity of electric, heating, water supply and other items that may be triggered by the remodel.
  • Develop preliminary concepts and renderings based on the design order scope of work.
  • Confirm that the design is within the agreed target budget range Meeting to present design concepts to you for your approval.

Step 3: Detailed Planning

  • Refine the design based on our preliminary design meeting.
  • Set up job site visit with the trades (electrician, plumber, heating) who will be working on your remodel project to develop a clear scope of work.
  • Assist with the selection of products and materials for your project.
  • Share your product and material selections with the trades to ensure that all are on the same page prior to final pricing. (Our goal is to minimize or eliminate allowances)
  • Develop complete scope of work with product selections and trades scope in writing.
  • Figure fixed price.
  • Prepare construction agreement to build and present to you for approval and deposit.

Step 4: Construction

  • Obtain building permit
  • Office preconstruction meeting with assigned lead carpenter, remodel coach and designer
  • Pre-construction meeting at your home with you, your remodel coach and your lead carpenter
  • Site check, order materials, schedule trades, confirm schedule.
  • Set up weekly meeting schedule with your lead carpenter
  • Build your project, site preparation, weekly meetings, scheduled progress payments
  • Project walk through and close out.
  • Completion certificate, warranties and end-of-job celebration!
